Character Matters
J’net partners with Tom Wilson, whom she met working on the Internationally Syndicated Ziggy cartoon’s licensing program in the mid-90’s. Since the company's inception, she has directed the company’s marketing and account management, as well as playing an integral role helping create new products.
“J’net gets it! She is one of those very rare people in business who truly understands both the marketing and creative process. As a result, Jeanette is not only able to deliver great creative to market; she is consistently able to market it creatively!”
- Tom Wilson, Founder - Character Matters
"I really wanted to be creatively different from other nonprofits in telling the contemporary story of Girls and Boys Town, the Original Father Flanagan Boys' Home. After meeting Tom Wilson and Jeanette Smith, I was intrigued by the Character Matters approach and what it could potentially do for us. They have exceeded my expectations."
- Bill Swindell, National Director of Development - Girls and Boys Town
Affirmagy
Affirmagy has built a brand based on giving the gift of affirmations. Affirmagy initially brought J’net on board to explore the potential of licensing their collections. They were soon excited and surprised to learn that having J’net as a team member meant having marketing, branding, sales and licensing expertise all available and rolled into one dynamic package.
“We brought Jeanette on board to leverage our brand and build our licensing product platform for a variety of lines and audiences. Jeanette is part of our core branding and marketing team, and her expertise in the world of licensing is a perfect fit. We couldn’t be happier. Success requires passion, knowledge and a go-for-it-attitude, and she possesses all three!”
- Kristen Marie Schuerlein, Founder - Affirmagy
Tara Reed
Tara and J'net connected in 2005 at the Licensing Show, after which the self-taught artist and aspiring art licensor hired J'net as a coach to help her navigate the often complex and veiled world of art licensing. When the duo met, Reed had signed on six licenses in three years and quickly J'net helped her ink an amazing 16 new deals in less than a year.
“J’net Smith helped me to significantly decrease the learning curve when building my art licensing business. She has extensive knowledge of the industry, and really listened to what I wanted and where I wanted to go. She helped me focus my efforts, streamline my marketing and negotiate some contracts that were tricky for me with my limited experience. I highly recommend any artist work with Jeanette if you are ready to listen, learn and implement. It will be money well spent.”
- Tara Reed, President - Tara Reed Designs
Third Planet
Principal Mark Vrieling asked J’net Smith Inc. to create a roll-out plan for a limited release of their Living Temples DVD. The successful plan maximized traction with niche target audiences and gave concrete recommendations for re-purposing the product in new markets, as well as key agent contacts to consider for pursuing television placement of the HD show and upcoming series.
Close to Home
John McPherson, creator of the syndicated cartoon Close to Home, challenged J’net to create a marketing and licensing plan that would build new revenue and distribution opportunities for the property. He was so thrilled with her inventive ideas and detailed knowledge of the cartooning and humor markets that they continue to explore ways to work together.
“Although I have been a syndicated cartoonist for 17 years and know a lot about the business, I found Jeanette's insight to be invaluable. J’net looked at my work and saw its potential in a totally different light and allowed me to see opportunities I had no idea existed.”
- John McPherson, Cartoonist - 'Close to Home'
Ceranima Home
J'net Smith and Andre Lake Mayer put Becky Denny on the art licensing map by helping her implement a strategic collection development and marketing plan that resulted in the sales of more than 350 products in less than three years. J'net has remained with Becky as a consultant for her new business Ceranima Home; a development company that creates designer products for affinity consumer markets.
“We always say, nobody can close like Jeanette. I've always appreciated her ability to focus and solve problems quickly. She knows her strengths and weaknesses (I haven't found any yet--but she has deferred to others on a few things over the years, which I take as proof of her integrity). Her advice and guidance have been invaluable to me over the last 7 years.”
- Becky Denny, Designer and Founder, Ceranima Home
